“TaylorArts Group was
contracted with the Mattress Factory to augment our

granting agencies which we may not have otherwise
explored without Mr. Taylor's help”

Aliquippa Alliance for Unity & Development

"The services provided by TaylorArts Group were
critical to the development of programming for the
Aliquippa Embraces Art Festival. Mr. Taylor helped in
our National Endowment for the Arts grant reporting,
tracking and planning for our community festival. His
continued presence in our community is a valuable asset
to our organization”
- Rosanne Stead –
Executive Director, Aliquippa Alliance for Unity &
Development
Founded
in 1984, the Aliquippa Alliance for Unity and
Development (AAUD) is a non-profit 501(c) (3) charitable
organization that has a proven record of creating and
administrating successful programs and services. The
AAUD was created to combat the devastating social and
economic effects of the loss of 14,000 steel mill jobs.
The AAUD established a one-stop human service center
(The Franklin Center) and a medical clinic, renovated
and converted buildings to provide low-income housing
and commercial space, and spearheaded economic
development efforts by bringing needed capital to the
distressed community of Aliquippa. Supplemental
programming for the schools provides year-round career
and art classes and enrichment activities. The AAUD has
provided business loans and workforce development
programs for the low income, unemployed, and other
disenfranchised populations of Beaver County. The annual
art festival, Aliquippa Embraces Art, brought art
experiences to a community that has no other local
opportunity for cultural experience.

Pittsburgh Playback Theatre
Since its founding in 1986, Pittsburgh Playback Theatre
has presented groundbreaking work with prisoners, the
homeless, African American youth, survivors of
concentration camps, the elderly and other populations
whose voices are often lost in a multi-media world.
Best performed when focused on a central theme, the
interactive and improvisational nature of Pittsburgh
Playback Theatre provides an enlightening experience to
its audience members.
Playback Theatre is an internationally recognized
process which derives from psychodrama and
storytelling. Playback was founded in New York City in
1975 and is a form of improvisational theater where
personal stories from the audience are gathered and
“played-back” on stage. It encourages the audience to
abandon traditional spectator roles and adopt an active
participation in the performance. Playback Theatre is
performed by over 100 groups in 18 countries, including
over 20 in the United States. The overarching mission
of this art form is expressed in the mission of the
International Playback Theatre Network:
We recognise the universal longing
for affirmation and for connection with others.
The spontaneous enactment of personal
experience in Playback Theatre builds connection between
people by honouring the dignity, drama, and universality
of their stories

Laboratory Dance Company (LABCO Dance) was organized in
1999 in response to a growing need for professional
opportunities for performance artists in the Pittsburgh
region. The concept for such an organization has grown
to become a highly respected independent company with a
collective philosophy. In the interest of creating a
supportive environment for local dancers,
choreographers, performance artists, teaching artists,
visual artists, musicians, and technical staff, LABCO is
working to employ these artists and provide a
professional outlet for their creativity. Company
members have self-produced and performed in high-quality
contemporary dance concerts throughout Pennsylvania, New
York, Ohio, New Jersey, California and Europe. The
company is also noted for its professional and amateur
dance classes, ethnic dance instruction, teacher
training and community outreach.
Artistic Director Gwen Richie collaborates with
company members to create, and perform new contemporary
dance concerts, coordinate residency & outreach
activities and schedule classes in LABCO’s home theater
on Pittsburgh’s Historic South Side. LABCO prides itself
on creative performances and innovative classes for
people of all ages and backgrounds. The Pittsburgh-Post
Gazette says
“Part of LABCO’s success has been its connection with
the community. The company has exhibited a certain
talent in utilizing amateur dancers and non-dancers over
the years. The policy has garnered new students,
performers and audiences.”

“Chris Taylor has been a valuable asset in planning for
my public art project. He has openly shared his network
of arts professionals to advance a project that is very
important to me and my artistic career”
- Ruth Stanford –
Independent artist, Carnegie Mellon University
Graduate School of Art -
The
Times Project seeks to provide support and opportunities
to artists. Through developing works of art in public
places, and encouraging artists to become a greater
force in the progress of their city, the Times Project
works to create a space and a time for art in this
community. The Times Project, established in 1990, has
developed six public art projects in and around
Pittsburgh. The vision that inspired the development of
the Times Project is the same vision that has fueled the
renewed value Pittsburgh is placing on the arts. The
Board recognizes the vital role public art plays in
enriching communities by infusing creative connections
and beautifying public spaces. As communities across
Pittsburgh, from downtown to Homestead, engage in
revitalization projects that draw upon the unique
visions and assets, exciting opportunities lie ahead for
the Times Project.

No Wall
Productions

no wall productions, Inc. specializes in adaptive
reuse projects. Its particular focus has been in sorely
neglected neighborhoods, such as downtown Pittsburgh. no
wall productions has achieved success with these
projects by a careful and creative approach to design,
construction and financing. The office is small, with
(in addition to Eve) a project manager, a development
assistant, an office manager, part-time bookkeeper, and
a maintenance person. Team building and out-sourcing is
key to the no wall approach, with a strong relationship
with a local architectural firm and careful selection of
partners and contractors for each project. Long term
relationships with an accounting firm and attorney
provide necessary legal support.
